EXPERIENCE SEISHIN KENDO DOJO

KENDO HISTRY

Kendo (剣道) is a combination of two Japanese words - ken (剣) meaning sword and do (道) meaning road or "way". The result is "the way of the sword".  Kendo is the art of Japanese sword fencing. For centuries, kendo was strictly regarded as a samurai martial art. Today, Kendo is an international sport practiced in over 40 countries that develops mind, spirit, and body.

ABOUT SEISHIN DOJO

“Seishin”, is roughly translated as meaning “spirit that gives the courage to fight hard and never quit”.  Samurai and later kendo practitioners used the dojo to grow this spirit to face the challenges of life and death in battle.  With the commitment of all of Seishin Dojo’s kenshi to train hard with one another, and respect each other and the dojo through the practice, our members may gain an understanding of “Seishin”, and hopefully take that with them outside the dojo, into their lives.

Seishin Kendo Dojo is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote kendo and an understanding of Japanese culture. Seishin Kendo Dojo was founded in December 1998
